Why Is Inclusion Important?

Filed under: Blogs, Judaism and Disability, Personal Stories — Mark @ 12:25 p

When this blog began in the Fall of 2007 I posted a link to an excellent article written by Dr. William Kolbrener. The article appears in Jewish Action , a publication of the Orthodox Union.

Dr. Kolbrener sent me an e-mail recently to alert me regarding a new piece he has written for a new blog he has begun. I am grateful that he dropped me a note to let me know about the blog and the article. I am going to add the blog to the sidebar.

The new post on Dr. Kolbrener’s blog is titled Together and it details his family’s journey through finding a place for their son, Shmuel, to attend school.

The post argues that inclusion of children like Shmuel is important because it is the way our children lead us into the realization that the communities we are a part of should be more inclusive, more of the time (or dare I say, ALL of the time!)

I am thankful for Dr. Kolbrener’s words and the truth they teach.
