Ask An Expert

IDN is committed to providing a wide range of educational resources to aid in the implementation of accessible and inclusive congregational programs. While we strive to be comprehensive, we know that the site may not provide answers to every query that may come up during your journey to inclusion.

In an effort to offer an even wider range of resources, we invite you to submit your questions to our expert panel. After submitting your question to the “Ask an Expert” feature, you can expect a response within two (2) business days.

Question: My congregation has just begun to think about being more accessible to an inclusive of people with disabilities and their families. Where would you suggest we begin? See answer here.

Question: Are there any specific resources for starting up a Sunday School program that relates to Specuial needs children.?We have children with Autism, Downs, ADD, hearing loss. We are considering a "shadow" program where adult or youth attends regular Sunday school class with the child and is there to take them out of the room to another place if needed. Does anyone have any experience with this? See answer here.

Question: Can you recommend a video or print resource that teaches sign language for common terms of faith? I teach a Sunday School class for adults with disabilities and I have frequent need for incorporating sign into our sessions. See answer here.
