Linda Zimmerman's Bio

Linda Zimmerman is the Executive Director of the Amit Community School Program.  She began working at Jewish Educational Services in September 1995 where she established the Special Needs Department.  In this role Linda provided consultation services to synagogues, preschools and day schools to insure that children with learning differences have access to a quality Jewish education.  She also arranged teacher workshops and community symposium on learning differences. Today Amit is an independent central agency in the Jewish community.

Linda is the past president of the board of the Interfaith Disabilities Network of the Atlanta Alliance on Developmental Disabilities.  She also participates, through Amit, in the Coordinated Network for Persons with Disabilities in the Atlanta Jewish community as the educational component. 

Prior to JES Linda worked as a consultant in the Independent Living Program of Jewish Family & Career Services and acted as an interim director of the program.  She also worked for many years as a Rehabilitation Counselor providing case management services to injured workers.

Linda is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling.  She has completed additional course work in learning differences.  She was the assistant administrator of a synagogue supplemental religious school and has taught Hebrew and Judaics in supplementary schools. 

Linda is a recipient of the Marilyn Shubin Professional Staff Development Award for outstanding contributions as a professional within the Atlanta Jewish community.
